Armed Forces Foundation Announcement

The Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) recently completed a study to examine the shifting needs of military service members and their families, to map the services currently being provided by AFF and similar organizations, and to identify the most effective and impactful ways in which AFF can serve and provide support today and in the future.

As a result of this exercise, and careful considerations, AFF has decided to cease our programs and fundraising operations and to transfer existing resources to other highly-impactful organizations in this military service space. The reality is that there are more than 40,000 non-profit organizations dedicated to serving military members and their families and there is considerable overlap among those organizations. We believe by combining our resources with similar organizations, we can ultimately better serve the military community.

As such, AFF will continue its legacy of protecting and promoting the physical, mental and emotional wellness of military service members, veterans, and their families by allocating financial resources to four high-quality, high-performing non-profit organizations in the military/veterans space: Hire Our Heroes, Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, and the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

While this decision ultimately marks the end of the Armed Forces Foundation, we are proud of what we have accomplished in our 15-year history. Since our inception in 2001, AFF helped active duty service members, veterans, and their families across the U.S. overcome tremendous personal challenges and obstacles related to military deployment and civilian reintegration. Over the years, AFF’s work supported veterans and their families of all ages and need by:

  • Providing much needed financial assistance to families experiencing economic hardship
  • Increasing resources for the treatment of TBI through a unique partnership with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
  • Raising awareness about PTSD
  • Providing in-school support and counseling to children from military families
  • Boosting morale of service members and their children
  • Educating children about the military and Veteran’s Day

With generous support from our donors and partners AFF reached and helped hundreds of service members and their families:

Children, parents, and school teachers benefited from in-school counseling services in Fort Belvoir, Virginia
Families received financial assistance annually since 2006
Classrooms across the country received educational materials about the military and Veterans Day though Operation Caring Classroom
Teachers downloaded the Operation Caring Classroom lesson plans developed in partnership with Scholastic
Service members and children participated in ProCamps summer camps

The Armed Forces Foundation is grateful for the ongoing support it has received from its donors, partners, and volunteers. If you are interested in continuing to support the mission, please consider donating to Hire Our Heroes, Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, and the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

The Armed Forces Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated protecting and promote the physical, mental, and emotional wellness of military service members, veterans, and their families.
